Job Description:

The Cyber-Security Engineer is a key player in safeguarding our dental healthcare IT infrastructure, focusing on the secure management of patient data across multiple locations and cloud environments. This role demands a specialized understanding of HIPAA compliance and the unique security challenges within dental and medical facilities. The candidate will be instrumental in deploying, managing, and optimizing security solutions to protect sensitive patient information and ensure the integrity of our IT systems.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

  • Implement and manage security protocols and measures tailored to the healthcare sector, with a strong emphasis on compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and security audits specific to Hybrid local/Azure environments, developing and executing remediation plans to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with IT and healthcare facility leadership in the design and deployment of security strategies that safeguard patient data and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems.
  • Stay informed on emerging security threats to healthcare IT infrastructure and adapt security measures to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of policies and procedures for data security, network access, and disaster recovery, with a focus on meeting stringent healthcare industry standards.
  • Act as an escalation path within the engineering structure to assist in security-adjacent tasks and training, initiative development, and architecture planning.
  • Rapidly learn new systems, and work them into security best practices plan while following architectural standards.
Qualifications:

Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or SANS/GIAC considered.
  • Additional certifications in healthcare information security and HIPAA compliance are advantageous.
